A child’s monologue
There was a moment in time when the strongest man on earth, even stronger than Superman did not need a silly costume.
There was a moment in time when the most powerful search engine, the one that knows it all had a similar brand.
There was a moment in time when all verdicts, big or small would come from only one superior, honourable judge.
There was a moment in time when the most talented man on earth did not come from reality shows but stayed in your house.
There was a moment in time when the manliest of man was the man who brought half of your genes.
There was a moment in time when you thought Michael Schumacher drove too slow.
There was a moment in time when you felt his bedtime stories were better than the movie The Avengers.
There was a moment in time when you wished you could grow up and be like him someday.
There was a moment in time when you thought he should join EURO because he could play better than everyone on the pitch, even the coach.
There was a moment in time when you thought he makes everything in the house, even the house itself, coz he’s just so good at everything.
There was a moment in time when you believed Jackie Chan learned kung fu from him.
There was a moment in time when you hated him coz he beat you so hard but took pride of it when you learned the words ‘tough love’.
There was a moment in time when you waited excitedly for a joy ride every evening with him but eventually took it as embarrassing when you grow older.
There was a moment in time when you admired his selection of a life partner but grew older and brought one of your own without asking his consent.
.
.
There WILL come a time when you hope your perceptions towards him never have changed.
There WILL come a time when someone sees you like you used to see ‘him’ sometime ago.
There WILL come a time when you hope he never have left, even how aged he is and how cranky he became.
Thank you Abah, Ayah, Abi, Walid, Papa, Dad. This one’s for you.
“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbour, the neighbour farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful” (An-Nisa’ : 36)
